The anime is the only thing this shooter has going for it, and it is a point for which is quickly and blatantly hammered into its victim…I mean player.

On its points you are given a choice of well known characters from the show and the game sports a few cut-scenes, sadly these are minimal and thrown at you so often they quickly become background noise.

There are no mission briefings from Chief Aramaki before a mission, you wont be interacting with the world or anyone from Ghost in the Shell, unless you count running around with 6 Motokos spamming “I need assistance”. You will however get treated to quick very generic blips from the anime.

Gunplay is mediocre at best and the leveling system appears arbitrarily attached. Hostile bodies act like bullet sponges while a single head-shot works for an instant kill.

You spend time and exp to unlock items that you then must purchase before use. Additionally much of the equipment only sports a single upgrade per slot. Most of the upgrades that are unlocked through the leveling system are singular upgrades. One does not get a choice in say: a barrel that does more damage vs a barrel that has higher accuracy. You simply get the one upgrade per slot for your gun and that is all that you get, there is no choice or customization involved. Every slot has a single upgrade and nothing else.

Additionally matchmaking appears to be broken or just non existent. I was regularly in matches that had totally unbalanced numbers and levels.
Graphics are mediocre they really do fail to capture any sense of the source material. Just look at this high tech super sci-fi loading screen.

Gameplay consist of 3 game types team deathmatch and capture the flag (IE Terminal conquest) and king of the hill (IE demolition). Maps are very limited, at most you have 2 maps per mission type. The maps themselves are again mediocre at best, you get 1 generic cityscape map and 1 generic “indoors” map per mission type.
It is of some note here that the player has a friendly and enemy view for their character, You will forever be fighting bland cookie cutter “red guys”

This has to be one of the most generic, uninspired and downright lazy fps games I have played in a while.
What I can say is: This is barely a shell of a game. I would not recommend this to anyone whom is not a hardcore Ghost in the Shell fan.
